Our products in an aid centre in Kiev

In August 2024, we donated a folding gazebo and several furniture sets to the White Cross of Bolzano. They were taken to an aid centre for war refugees in Kiev.

Tensions in the war zone

Six rescuers of the White Cross were in Kiev to expand a first aid centre and set up a mobile shower tent. During the night, they were unexpectedly caught up in one of the heaviest Russian air strikes on Ukraine. The alarm sounded at 3 a.m., and the team immediately sought shelter in the air-raid bunker of the hotel where they were staying.

We wanted to help from the very beginning of the war in Ukraine. Back then, we worked with Helfende Hände (“helping hands” - a non-profit organisation) and the Polish Red Cross to bring hygiene products, non-perishable food and mobile shelters to the border. This time, we decided to support the White Cross with our products.

A folding Gazebo as a shower cubicle

In August 2024, we once again wanted to demonstrate our solidarity. We donated a folding gazebo and several furniture sets to the White Cross for the establishment of an aid centre for war refugees in Kiev. Our mobile tent structure, equipped with showers and a hygiene area, now serves as a crucial point of contact for refugees from the eastern combat zones.

We are proud to be able to help with our products and are delighted when women and children, as well as senior citizens and people with disabilities, find shelter under our tents after days of fleeing.

The help centre

This aid centre naturally also includes other, somewhat larger tents that are used for initial care. "Here, the refugees can breathe a sigh of relief. They receive hot meals, food, help finding accommodation and psychological support. Moreover, in winter, people can warm up in the heated tents in case the electricity and heating fail. The shower facilities are particularly important during these months in order to ensure personal hygiene", emphasises Alexander Schmid, President of the Provincial White Cross Rescue Association.

The Provincial Rescue Association has been supporting the people of Kyiv in caring for the refugees for some time now and is therefore always grateful for any additional help they can receive.

"Our heartfelt thanks go to the Zingerle Group for their generous support," says Sandro Gallonetto, board member of the White Cross, who was present at the handover of the folding gazebo in Natz-Schabs. "It fills us with pride that South Tyrolean companies like the Zingerle Group support our commitment. This shows that our efforts are focussed on the right thing."

This is why we regularly donate to local social organisations, collect clothing and food for those in need and provide support where it is most urgently needed. In this way, we contribute to helping people in need not only in crisis areas, but also right on our doorstep.
